Keeping up with your NFIRS Administration

Administrators have two primary ongoing tasks to perform for incidents:

  1. Completing incidents - readying them for the department's records
  2. Processing incidents for NFIRS - readying them for export to NFIRS for the state's records

This article is for the second, i.e. keeping up preparing incidents for NFIRS:

NFIRS / NFIRS

On the administration website visit the NFIRS menu item, and NFIRS sub-menu item to view where things stand on NFIRS incidents. Incidents are grouped by month (the quarter of the year) and then separated into their state/stage in the workflow. This overview shows the number of incidents in each stage:  "To Process", "NFIRS Ready", "NFIRS Excluded" and "NFIRS Exported".

NOTE: Incident numbers need to move from left to right, to be processed for NFIRS and then exported. Good news is when everything is in the righter most columns.

Additionally, upon login to the administration website, the first page shown is a "work queue" where the numbers shown are the TODOs. "To Complete" and "To NFIRS" show work to do.

... and at the bottom of the same page the detailed numbers are shown.

NOTE: Incident numbers need to move from left to right, to be processed for NFIRS and then exported. Good news is when everything is in the righter most numbers.
