Retiring / Removing / Standing Down Apparatus
When apparatus is no longer in front-line service it can be marked as reserve (for occasional usage) or stood down, if taken out of service. Rather than deleting retired apparatus, Responserack keeps it around for historical record keeping.
If an apparatus is retired, but you wish to re-use the name you can schedule it to be renamed.
Go to Control View / Apparatus / {Apparatus ID} then at the bottom of the page "Update Apparatus Status" and / or "Rename Apparatus".

Renaming Retired Apparatus
If you have an "Engine 1" that is retired, and you put a new "Engine 1" into service ... you need to rename the old apparatus. A good retirement name is "Retired {Name or Designation} - {Year} {Make} {Model}" e.g. "Retired Rescue 1 - 2010 Ford F-150" so it is clear what it was used for, and which one ... in case you go through a few.
