Reasons to Change

There are two things that firefighters hate: change and the way things are.
- Chief Alan Brunacini

Change is hard for any organization, and especially one where things have been done in certain ways for a long time, and especially in an organization where life safety is at stake. Change needs to be justified, and needs to bring value.

Here are some of the reasons to change to Responserack.

Benefits to the Firefighter:

  • Know your own numbers, without having to interrupt an administrator, right from your phone.
  • Always know if you received call credit for any incidents you responded on, or trainings/events you attended. Check any time.
  • View incident reports at any time; learn from them and even review tactics, procedures employed, and any mitigations.
  • Complete reports away from the station (from home, from anywhere.) If tired at 02:30, go home.
  • Connect with other members easily. Text, phone or email them from your phone.
  • Single point of fire department information, and fire department information updates.
  • Review your list of calls; with breakdown by categories, role, day of the week, time of day.
  • Check other people's number; see who are the top responders, or compare against a buddy.
  • Automatic information from the system; member anniversaries, estimated calls to end of year, and more.
  • News and other information for the good of the membership…

Benefits to Officers:

  • Officers (overhead) can check member responses, and identify any gaps in response. Firefighters experiencing a gap in service might benefit from being checked on.
  • Training Officers can know who is coming to training, share videos, and track/report on attendance numbers.
  • Fleet Managers can track apparatus usage (when last driven) and hours of usage.

Benefits to the Department:

  • Know the overall incident numbers & attendance.
  • Know training / meeting / maintenance & community service attendance numbers.
  • Data mine information with simple yet powerful (as well as custom) reporting.
  • Keep track of department top responders, and responses in general.
  • Prepare for ISO rating: Response times, times of day, attendance.

Benefits to Department / Administrators:

  • Easily complete and submit NFIRS
  • Produce PDFs for homeowners, insurance companies and other stakeholders.
  • Manage membership career records; notes / changes / timelines.
  • Historical data; reporting & grant read.

Benefits to the Community:

  • Thriving organized Fire Department ...
