NFPA Response Time Standard

The NFPA Response Time Standard of less than 20 minutes from tone to arrival is used by NFIRS as a sanity check. For example, if the wrong hour was typed then maybe arrival time would be "one hour and five minutes" not "five minutes". NFIRS flags any response times of 20 minutes or more using a "notice" for you to double check the values. If checked and correct, no further action is required.

NOTE: If the response time is correctly at 20 or beyond, no further action is required on this NFIRS notice

In remote locations drive times are regularly 20 minutes or more.
