Tips for Working with Responserack in a Browser
Responserack is designed to be lightweight and fast, using simple HTML to ensure compatibility across all devices. Because the interface is streamlined, you can use built-in browser features to navigate your data like a pro.
1. Finding Information Instantly
Since Responserack displays lists in a straightforward format, you don’t need a complex search bar to find a specific incident or address. Your browser’s Find in Page tool is the fastest way to highlight exactly what you’re looking for.
- Windows/Linux: Press CTRL + F
- Mac: Press CMD + F
Simply type a CAD number, a street name, or a unit ID, and the browser will jump directly to that incident or entry within the page.
2. Multi-tasking with Tabs
If you need to view a specific incident report without losing your place in an incident review, use Open in New Tab. This allows you to keep multiple "views" of Responserack active at once.
- How to do it: Right-click any link and select "Open link in new tab."
- Pro Tip: If you are on a desktop, you can Drag a Tab to the side of your screen to create a split-screen view, allowing you to compare two different reports side-by-side.
3. Keyboard Shortcuts for Efficiency
Once you have finished reviewing a report or updating a something in a side tab view, you can clear your workspace quickly using keyboard shortcuts rather than hunting for the "X" button on the tab.
- Close Current Tab: Press CMD + W (Mac) or CTRL + W (Windows).
- Re-open Closed Tab: If you closed something by accident, press CMD + Shift + T (Mac) or CTRL + Shift + T (Windows) to bring it back instantly.
4. Quick Access via Bookmarks
Don't type the URL every time you need to log an incident. Save your most-used Responserack pages directly to your browser’s Favorites or Bookmark Bar.
- Navigate to your department's Responserack home page.
- Click the Star Icon in the address bar.
- Name it "Responserack" and save it to the Bookmark Bar for one-click access whenever you open your browser.
Note: If you use Responserack on a tablet or phone, you can also use the "Add to Home Screen" option in your mobile browser to make it function like a dedicated app.
