Responserack Browser Tips and Tricks

As a "web application" there are browser tips-and-tricks that improve working with Responserack.

Top Tips and Tricks

These are the top tips and tricks, but there are more (and the explanations) below:

  • Right click to "open in new tab". CTRL-W/CMD-W to close.
  • Keyboard Shortcuts, e.g. CTRL-F/CMD-F for "find".
  • Either bookmark your Responserack site, or type "Responserack" for "Login" on the home page.

Browser Tabs

Tabs (named after separators in the real-world of file folders) are ways to have multiple pages/views in a browser without having to open multiple computer windows. Tabs are very helpful - even if you like to do one thing at a time - and can allow you to (for example) "keep your place" on one page (e.g. a list of incidents) and do multiple jobs from there. You could open up a new tab for each incident in a list, and then go to review each those incidents in their own tab, and never lose your place on the list.

NOTE: Right click (or two tap click) on a link to "Open in New Browser Tab".

Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcut are "power tips" for users to move more quickly. Having to look at the screen to position the mouse over a button (e.g. the plus in the tabs bar) and then clicking it ... takes time. Pressing a couple of keys to do the same can save a lot of time, once you get used to it. The most useful keyboard shortcuts for Responserack are:

Windows Keypress Mac Keypress Purpose
CTRL+T CMD+T Open a new browser tab
CTRL+W CMD+W Close current tab/window.
CTRL+Shift+T CMD+Shift+T Re-open the last closed tab. (If you closed it - perhaps accidentally - but want it back, this is for you.)
CTRL+Tab CMD+Tab Switch to next tab.
CTRL+F CMD+F Find in page (e.g. search.)
